this morning. the warm front has not come through yet. this is a warm, humid air mass. it will phillip summers time. the cool front will not come through until saturday morning. we will bake or broil. it will be mostly sunny. hot and humid. forill be in the low 90's the dew point. more humidity in the air than you like to feel. southwest wind 5 to 15 miles per hour. the front will be coming in about 8:00 in the morning west of us. we do see some clouds. any indication of rain is slim. less humid air comes in. we could see some showers off to our south saturday morning. rain off to our southeast on sunday. it looks like we could be dry on sunday. probably just some clotted this with a disturbance off to the south. 95 to today. football day on sunday. monday, tuesday, and was the, the rain chances increase and we do need it. >> there will soon be more space available for wifi signals. the fcc decides to open up on used airwaves for wireless broadband networks. they will be called super wifi because of those signals will travel further than today's wifi locations. you cannot look out for the new

at 90, westminster 92. it was warm. awfully warm. let's show you what some of that hot humid air led to. bottom line is showers and storms as we put maryland's most powerful radar into motion. the last part of maryland clearing out towards greensboro. you can see storms clearing the area and as you watch down here toward denton and queen ann you have to look to your north and northeast in the sky to see remaining lightning. looking good, clearing up. temperaturewise we've cooled off some but it's muggy. a muggy 77. not exactly what we had in mind for our first night of fall. 78 in fredericks now. down south, look at culpeper, almost 100 today down into virginia for the last day of summer. our radar shows clearing out, weather out in far western maryland is not going to make it in here in any significant way, you can see the line of showers and storms they're tracking along a boundary north and west of baltimore. this boundary is not going to come through. i think it's going to retreat northward and that's going to allow the hot humid air to keep flowing in out of the south and keep temp

into sunday and especially into the middle of next week. winds southwest at 12:00 bringing up a hot humid air mass. that's for sure. look at what the humidity did this morning. socked in with the fall big time. couldn't see a thing downtown. sorry if you had to commute in that. took awhile to lift and burn off. temperatures would have heated up more rapidly. we would have broken as opposed to tying the old record. parkville today. hurricaney start there. look at how thick the fog is there. then we get that hot hazy sunshine into the picture. frederick triple digits today on the weather net sites. chestertown up through galina. statewide these numbers not looking too much different unless you are way out west to oakland. that was cooler in oaks city. most of the area was sitting into the heat this morning. there is no doubt about it. as we look at the numbers now, the heat index numbers as we speak still feeling close to 100 in easton. still feeling like mid 90s out there for us. the winds have been steady out there. out of the south. bringing up that warm humid air. that will continue tomorro

. we are still in the humid air mass. the wind is still coming in the southwesterly direction. once the front passes through, less humid air will start to filter in. pasadena is at 73. 69 at randallsto chestertonwn on is 73. pittsburgh is only 60. detroit 50 it. green bay is 44. we will not get that cold. nonetheless, it will be more comfortable. here is the satellite image. the position of the front is the the west of us. we are in the tropical front air mass that is more typical in july and august than late september. we do get into this. what those waves do is bring some moisture in, and up the rain chances. that is a good thing for early next week. today -- no rain in the forecast. temperatures are in the 83 degree to 87 degree range. it is cooler than yesterday, but five or six degrees warmer than usual. the seven-day forecast puts us at 71 tomorrow. that is a lot cooler. we will see some clouds tomorrow. by the evening, a chance for rain. the game looks dry. monday and tuesday, the rain chances look highest. thursday and friday look dry. highs will be in the 70's all next week

will get a bite of this warm and humid air that is off to the west. you start seeing a more southerly breeze and that will see increased humidity. we will be warming up. this cool front which is moving into the dakotas, this weather system will be coming in middle of the week and that will change the weather a little bit as well. aston it is drifting slowly toward the leeward islands in the caribbean. we of tropical depression number 10 in the gulf of mexico. it will not strengthen all that much. it will provide some weather along the texas coast over the next couple of days. we're not all the tropical here today. low humidity with mostly sunny skies. a little warmer and the yesterday. we expect low 80's today. cooler in the mountains. stormtracker to the north of us but by tuesday evening, here's a weak cool front in ohio. it does move in on wednesday morning and we may pick up a club or brief shower or something like that. in looks like it will be a weakness system. there is a good chance we will not see anything with this. it will not watered the lawn or the boagarden. we do see a

to the southwest. that's bringing up the warmth and humid air. so with the dry conditions we've had recently and with the winds picking up, there is a fire spread over on the eastern shore. a lot of us have been very dry, so this could be extended. the front does come through. there is the chance for a shower with it although it's a pretty strong chance. then the winds start to pick up out of the northwest and it cools us right back down starting thursday. here's a look at the front. there's not a lot of moisture to it. what it's trying to do is connect with some of the moisture coming in from hermine. it's going to move so fast, it's not going to get the chance to pick up that moisture. that's where there's a chance for showers. here's the front tries to connect to the green. it quickly gets out of here so it break that connection just to -- breaks that connection just to bring us a shower and the cool air returns on thursday. hermine is on shore already. it will become a tropical depression has it loses -- as it loses strength. now as far as the forecast goes for today, we are warming up o

in the air and part of that is air pollutants and the moisture in the atmosphere. the humidity has gone way up. this is just like a summer day and we are in early autumn. this band of clouds now east of chicago and for the most part moving toward detroit', has a few rain showers in it. that front is mostly dissipating. when it comes through. will be most likely dry sometime tomorrow morning. a heat wave after that friend goes through. we have been talking about how hot it has been. july to the price at 20 days 90 or hotter. so far we have had five days at 94 warmer in august -- in september. it looks like today will be six. a little cooler at ocean town. westminster did not checking in the past hour. 90 in frederick. loh 80's in mchenry and frostburg. satellite picture shows clouds overhead and here is this weather disturbance in canada, all tied to this front in the west. it is not very active, though. clouds are just not generating. with all of this humidity would think that something was going on, but it is just not happening at all. when this front comes through in less than 24 hours it

cooler, drier, less- humid air into our region tonight and into the day tomorrow. the midwest is already feeling that cooler air but we are on the warm side. we have a hot and humid day to day with temperatures in the mid-90's. notice the jet stream in purple. it should take a big dip to the south late sunday and early monday and tuesday. that should put our region into potentially heavy rainfall area. it should give as active and unsettled area. we could see some rainy days out of this, not just a few scattered showers. it could be some beneficial accumulations that could put a dent in the drought. we will keep an eye on that and update the forecast accordingly. tonight, a few scattered clouds as the cold front moves into more morning. it to be a dry frontal passage tonight and you will notice tonight and tomorrow the temperatures will be similar to the last couple of days but the humidity will be much lower and more comfortable. it will be about 10 degrees cooler tomorrow afternoon compared to now. mostly sunny and low humidity and sunday, we will see changes start to happen with incre

an hour and the north wind will drive the cooler and noticeably less humid air down into the area so off to a much cooler start tomorrow morning. temperatures have really been slow to taper off this evening and the cold air running behind schedule for sure. here's a check of doppler. no rain around here. some ground clutter on the radar. showers across the fa southside virginia headed to tide water as well. the closest rain to us is on the north side on the city of richmond and most not reaching the ground. across southwestern virginia those showers are the real deal, part of a much larger weather system that will bring clouds into the area during the day tomorrow and rain chance also start to be on the up and up. any time after about lunchtime tomorrow. we have to at least, be on the lookout for showers. i think the steadier rains don't arrive in the washington area until probably close to midnight tomorrow night but the further south and west you go the earlier the rain chances get to you. this is tomorrow night. heaviest rains to the south tomorrow but there could be some breakout sho

. really hot and humid air. tomorrow, the average high is 79 degrees. that does not happen for over 200 more days, may 30. let me show you what is going on high above us. in washington, 70 degrees, the dew point in the 50's. not only in washington but many spots. gets into the 50's, it is really refreshing. fairfax, probably waking up with temperatures in the high 50's because of the weather front. no real moisture. the heavy stuff is in the tropics. here they are, lined up, the peak of tropical storm season. igor is reforming, the wind at around 135 m.p.h. the other moving into the yucatan is tropical storm karl. none of these pose any threat to the united states, but nonetheless, it has been a number of years since tropical storms and hurricanes have threatened to bermuda. over the weekend, even though igor will be getting weaker, it could be a threat to bermuda by the time we get into saturday. meantime, there is karl, moving through the yucatan and probably mexico, bringing more rain where they don't need it in south texas. the temperatures into the 80's, still in the 70's, the dew

with hot and humid air over the southern united states sets up an 80 degree north to south u.s. temperature differential. when you do that all weather is driven by temperature variances. the jet stream forms and impulses form among it and all of the moisture it has. you can get to some storms to develop. did you see those clouds coming in right now? they are the vanguard of an approaching con pct little storm that will fly across the area tonight and tomorrow with gusty winds already showing up in glenview, de kalb, lake geneva and geneva in the fox valley. and you see our flags here at wgn as the clouds take over the skies. blowing out in front right here. here is a view from joliet. we showed you that a tad earlier. kind of a thighs day in joliet. temperatures are pleasant. it's 70. hard to believe that 71 years ago back in 1939 we were in the midst of a late season heat wave that had us flirting with 100 degrees for three days. those president good ol' days. back when you had heat late in the season. we haven't had 100-degree temperatures since 2005 around here. 71 at midway. southeast w

westerly and maybe even norwesterly and that will introduce less humid air and we'll hold the temperatures down. we're already at 72 at the airport. we mentioned 71 in columbia. edgewood 72. chestertown across the bay is 73 degrees. you can see the effect of the front across the bay. pittsburgh only 51. chicago 52. milwaukee 44. and up at international falls, 37 degrees. we're not going to get that chilly. but chilly air is pushing in. the key to this whole thing is the front moving in. here it is out to our west. we'll be settling to our south and stalling in southeast virginia. then a couple waves will be moving along a sfront. so we bonet really get into that cool air up in the great lakes because we'll be too close to the front. we will push down this warm, humid stuff just far enough south to make things more comfortable by tomorrow. the thing is, with these waves moving along its front, they will pull in moisture off the atlantic ocean. that produces clouds and that ups our chance for rain eventually. we'll see the front approaching. still unseasonnably warm but not as hot as yesterd

shore now, moving all that humid air out and being replaced by nice dry conditions. it might be unsettled showers up in the great lakes, but they won't reach this far south. so really this weather -- look at the lack of storms out to the west. nothing going on out there. this bodes well for a nice weekend. subpoenay today, mild, breezey, especially this morning. north to northwest winds at 10 to 20. 70 to 82. here's the ocean city forecast. on the boardwalk, rip current risk is high. winds 5 to 10 to norm and southeast at 5 to 10 on monday. this is almost too per feck to be true -- perfect to be true. here's this area of high pressure coming in. high pressure will dominate our area. the storm track is north. and we are in the sweet spot right here in the mid-atlantic region. 79 today, 78 on subpoenaed, 83 on monday. all three days, low humidity. monday morning in the low 50's. next week, a real lack of rain in the seven-day forecast. today is the 12th day with no rain. and with these warmer temperatures next week back into the 80's, at some point we will welcome a day of rain

in that rather, warm humid air mass. 95 is the high yesterday at the airport, tying the record high for the date set back in 1970. so we didn't break it, but we tied it, and that's enough. the humidity is way up there, too, yesterday. yesterday's lows were 70 and 72. we were a couple degrees cooler than that. the low temperature today will be tonight, right before midnight. the temperatures will start dropping off. no rain yesterday. the record rainfall for this date, 1912, almost 6 inches of rain. we could use that, but rain is not in the immediate forecast. 79 at annapolis now. edgewood 75. parkton 72. frederick 70. temperatures in the upper 70's and mid 60's out in far western maryland. here you see the satellite imanl and you see that front coming out of ohio, and clouds out of ahead of it in parts of west virginia, western maryland, and western pennsylvania all over the mountains now. the cloud echo moving in may be a sprinkle were that activity out in the mountains. it looks like that's behind this. a much drier air mass is what the map will look like this evening. the front will move off

. the temperatures warmed up and that's humid air as well dew points are way up. and cooler to the west. and ocean city at 74 degrees. and for all of central maryland, this is a flash flood watch. that means that the conditions are possible. if you get a heavy downpour, you can see the flash flooding and the streaming in the roadways and the western side of the bay, we have a coastal flood advisory. that's perhaps giving you one foot above normal tides. and right now, we have a south west wind around the region and the gusts are stronger and low pressure over northern georgia. this is what's causing the rain. we've had three or four dry weeks and up the east coast comes the rain. from the gulf of mexico up to new england. you can see it crossing the region today. plenty of rain and a bit of a break now. look at the rain to the south. there's still a good batch of rain and another inch or two is possible. weave the good news is, it's not coming in at once. we're getting a break wand i'll see more of it. by late tomorrow afternoon, it's gone and we'll get into dryer air and we'll see some sunshine.

shore to find even moderately humid air. that's good, feels comfortable but again conditions just a little too dry statewide. clouds kind of hanging tough at the moment. this is that actual cool front as it pushes south of the state. a wider view across the east coast, you can see it's a kind of a slow-moving system. we painted it as a stationery front as opposed to a cold front, because it's going to slowly drift southward. our forecast model basically just keeping us partly cloudy through the day tomorrow. a dry day and even into thursday looking very quiet weatherwise. thursday afternoon our next system begins to approach out of the north and west and that is likely to bring us what we hope, at least some rainfall overnight thursday into early friday. looks like it will not linger into the weekend. one place we'll be watching this weekend, bermuda. hurricane igor, powerhouse, category 4 headed toward the island there. also hurricane julia now, category 1 behind igor. the whole ball of wax trucking towards bermuda, slated to arrive as we push into the weekend here. so this is de
